Raffmetal is proud to be one of the 28 partners of the European project ZEVRA, a strategic initiative aimed at achieving the “zero CO₂ emissions” target by 2035, in line with the Horizon Europe programme. This project represents a concrete step towards lighter and more sustainable electric mobility.
As highlighted in the video interview with Ruggero Zambelli, Quality Manager at Raffmetal, our contribution is central: we supply aluminium alloys made entirely from post-consumer scrap. The goal is to demonstrate that it is possible to obtain high-performance materials using only recycled aluminium, with no compromise on quality, safety or efficiency.
Thanks to advanced technologies, we can sort and treat the material based on its chemical composition, producing recycled alloys with a low, EPD-certified carbon footprint.
Within the ZEVRA project, our role is structured into three key phases:
This industrial approach enables up to 95% energy savings and a significant reduction in carbon footprint compared to the use of primary aluminium from bauxite, while enhancing resources already available in Europe and reducing dependence on imported raw materials.
ZEVRA is more than just a project: it is a turning point in the automotive sector. As Zambelli pointed out, it is no longer just about lightness, but about responsibility. Together, we are building a certified, fully European supply chain, where innovation and sustainability go hand in hand.
